I found the most reliable one is to install the parts without the cover and short the top two pins that go to the pilot light (left) and the main burner (right) and running it for a while. There is no need to completely remove the board from the plastic control valve cover. Worked like a charm! Pull on the wire. Lastly, be VERY careful when ordering your replacement unit, in that one has a square COM plug with four pin slots. Once the old valve is off, you can then fix the new valve onto the furnace.
